Thed Björk impressed during the first-ever FIA TCR World Tour weekend in South Korea at Inje Speedium, claiming a victory and two podium finishes.
The Swede secured his first pole position of 2025 in qualifying as team-mate Yann Ehrlacher landed an important third place on the grid.
"It was not easy. First time on track with rain tyres. Everyone was fighting and trying to adjust the cars as fast as possible but I'm really happy to have the pole. All points are so crucial now as we come towards the end of the season!" said Thed Björk.
However, a grid penalty for an incident with a TCR Asia driver later moved Thed Björk to fourth place on the grid.
Thed Björk made a strong charge in the race to finish third, right on the tail of championship rival and Honda driver Esteban Guerrieri while Yann Ehrlacher drove a strategic race to finish fourth.
“In the start it was hard because I had to lift to avoid hitting Yann (Ehrlacher). But my car was so good, and me and Esteban were fighting a lot. But then, when him started to pass my teammates, I told them on the radio: you have to move because I want to try to take as much as I can. And they did, because there was such a difference in pace. I was really happy with my car," said Thed Björk.
The second race saw Yann Ehrlacher and Thed Björk scoring further vital points with second and third place respectively.
That meant that the Lynk & Co Cyan Racing duo started from the front row in the third and final race.
And the duo controlled the final race of the weekend to secure a dominant Lynk & Co Cyan Racing 1-2, with Thed Björk winning ahead of Yann Ehrlacher.
“We had two great races before this with so much overtaking, clean fighting and pushing each other in a good way. For me this one was completely different. My start was good, Yann let me go on the outside and it was fine. The car felt great, and I could keep the pace all the time. I had so much pace over the weekend and that just continued to the very end today. Looking ahead, I’m really happy to be in the position to keep fighting for the championship," said Thed Björk.
“It was a good race. We had a very good start but if I would put my nose inside, I could have compromised both of us. It was better for me to cover and close the door. I was quick at the beginning then had to push a bit to survive and I did 19 laps in a row with no mistakes. I can't complain. I feel very happy about the weekend. We need still to learn things to make progress for China because the season is not over yet. I think there is some stuff we can optimize in our package and in myself as well," said Yann Ehrlacher.
Thed Björk has now moved up to second place in the standings, 42 points behind team-mate and points leader Yann Ehrlacher and three points ahead of Honda driver Esteban Guerrieri.
The next FIA TCR World Tour race takes place at Zhuzhou in China in two weeks' time.
