Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver Yann Ehrlacher drove a stellar FIA TCR World Tour race weekend at Valencia in Spain to claim the points lead with a double victory.
The team started the weekend strongly with a 1-2-3 in qualifying courtesy Santiago Urrutia who grabbed pole by just 33 thousands of a second ahead of Yann Ehrlacher.
The start of the first race saw Yann Ehrlacher getting the jump on team-mate Santiago Urrutia, heading home a dominant 1-2-3 ahead of the Uruguayan team-mate and Ma Qing Hua.
“It’s never easy, but after the first run to T1, I was just managing the tyres. I like to be in this position, as I could manage the tyre very easily and the team gave me an amazing car, so it was about not doing mistakes until the end and stay calm, and that was it," said Yann Ehrlacher.
The second race had Yann Ehrlacher fighting his way to finish third, despite an incident with fellow Frenchman John Filippi.
The third and final race of the weekend saw Yann Ehrlacher once again making a strong start to head his team-mate Santiago Urrutia to a second win of the season.
The victory moves the Lynk & Co 03 TCR driver to the top of the standings, six points ahead of Santiago Urrutia while Honda rival Esteban Guerrieri drops to third place, seven points behind.
“It was quite a nice weekend for us, it is the first time we’ve had a weekend with no bad luck. I was happy with the pace and all the work the guys have done, as it was really hot, so it has taken a bit to put everything together," said Yann Ehrlacher.
"I think Valencia is a nice touring car track; it’s quite challenging for us drivers to put together a good lap and the high temperature didn’t make things very easy either. It was quite challenging and hopefully we’ll come back here in the future.”
The next FIA TCR World Tour race takes place at Monza in Italy next weekend.
