Santiago Urrutia claimed pole position for the first FIA TCR World Tour race of the weekend at Interlagos in Brazil following a chaotic qualifying session.
The red flags were brought out early in qualifying as two TCR South America drivers collided, forcing a recovery and repair process of over an hour.
As the session resumed, Santiago Urrutia claimed pole by two tenths of a second.
"I'm very happy to put it on pole on my first time at Interlagos! It was a difficult qualifying session with the red flag and I had to put it together on my last lap. A big thanks to Cyan Racing and my team-mates who gave me a good tow. The car is really good and I'm looking forward for the races tomorrow," said Santiago Urrutia.
Yann Ehrlacher claimed vital championship points with third place, with team-mate Thed Björk in sixth place.
Ma Qing Hua took his Lynk & Co 03 TCR to ninth place and the front row of the reversed grid for Race 2.
The first race of the weekend starts at 11:10 local time/16:10 CEST.
