Yann Ehrlacher nets first FIA TCR World Tour podium of 2024 in Vallelunga opener

2024-04-20

Two-time world champion Yann Ehrlacher brought home a strong podium in the first KUMHO FIA TCR World Tour race of 2024 at Vallelunga.

The Lynk & Co Cyan Racing team faced difficult conditions where a heavy rain shower hit the circuit a couple of hours before the start, with the track just barely drying up in time for the race.

Yann Ehrlacher had qualified second, made a strong start to claim the lead for the first couple of laps and later finished second behind rival driver Norbert Michelisz.

"It was a tough and intense race. I got a really good start but I couldn't keep the lead. I am still happy with the result and to bring home solid points from the first race of the year," said Yann Ehrlacher.

Thed Björk finished sixth, with team-mates Santiago Urrutia and Ma Qing Hua right behind in positions seven and eight.

The second race on Sunday will feature a reversed grid where Santiago Urrutia will start from the front row.

Results and championship points.
