Cyan Racing introduces new GT version of the Volvo P1800 Cyan

2024-02-15

Cyan Racing, the reigning six-time world champion team of touring car racing, has introduced a new GT version of the Volvo P1800 Cyan - with a second car from the limited production already shipped and sold to the US market.

“The new version highlights the versatility and almost endless tailoring options of the Volvo P1800 Cyan, adding another dimension to our interpretation of the original model,” said Christian Dahl, CEO of Cyan.

“The joint journey of tailoring a car from start to finish with a client is a thoroughly rewarding process for the entire team, just as it is to see two further cars being shipped to the US.”

The Volvo P1800 Cyan was first introduced in 2020 as a track-inspired homage to the iconic Volvo sports car from the sixties.

The new version is built to be a grand tourer, with the Cyan-designed fully adjustable suspension now set up for winding country roads and inspiring but comfortable long-distance driving.

The two-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and drivetrain has been further optimised by the Cyan engineers for enjoyable drivability rather than raw power.

There is a wide range of engine configurations available, where clients so far have chosen between 350hp and 420hp.

Either configuration provides serious and usable performance in combination with the sub 1000kg weight of the high-strength steel and carbon fibre body. The engine is connected to the five-speed bespoke Holinger gearbox for excellent precision and feeling.

One of the first builds of the new GT version has been completed for a client in the US, featuring a unique metallic green colour.

The leather and fabric interior is of a sand colour, including bespoke and comfortable seats for touring, as well as an increased level of sound deadening material - all carefully tailored by Cyan's designers to the personal preferences of the client.

The car includes a different version of the titanium roll cage for increased comfort, but with a maintained high level of safety and chassis rigidity.

All Volvo P1800 Cyans are restored and modified from an original Volvo P1800 by the fabricators, engineers, designers and mechanics at the Cyan HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden - a process taking around 12-15 months per car.

A limited production of the GT specification Volvo P1800 will be produced, pricing and individual specification is available for prospective clients: sales@cyanracing.com
