Lynk & Co Cyan Racing heads to Hungaroring for final European TCR World Tour round

2023-06-14

The iconic Hungaroring ends not only the intense double header following Vallelunga last weekend, but also the European part of the TCR World Tour for Lynk & Co Cyan Racing.

The team heads to Hungary this weekend following an eventful previous race in Italy where the team defended its team championship lead and Yann Ehrlacher his second place in the drivers’ standings.

“The podium in Italy was one of the best races of my life. And getting rid of 40 kilos is definitely going to help this weekend. I really like the Hungaroring, it’s a special track which suits both my driving style and the Lynk & Co 03 TCR. I expect to be there at the top to score good points,” said Yann Ehrlacher.

Thed Björk jumped from tenth to fifth in the standings after Vallelunga but will carry more weight this weekend.

“We had a good weekend in Vallelunga considering the tough challenges and we scored some good points. I will have more weight at the Hungaroring, but I still think we can secure a solid points haul,” said Thed Björk.

Santiago Urrutia had a tough weekend in Italy following several incidents and is keen to bounce back at the Hungaroring where he has been successful many times in the past.

“This is a very important race and a track where I have many good memories, scoring my first win for Cyan Racing back in 2021. The approach is the same as all weekends, fighting hard. I need to collect points after Vallelunga where the incidents cost me a lot. But I am ready to fight back,” said Santiago Urrutia.

Ma Qing Hua had an equally tough race last weekend but will head to Hungary with 0 kilos of compensation weight.

“Vallelunga was a tough weekend, but something I have already put behind me. I’m feeling optimistic for the Hungaroring and I will fully attack for qualifying and the races. We will of course have to fight for every centimetre as usual, but I am more than ready for that,” said Ma Qing Hua.

Yann Ehrlacher is placed second overall in the drivers’ standings, 25 points from leading driver Norbert Michelisz while Thed Björk is fifth, 56 points adrift.

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing heads the team championship, 12 points ahead of BRC Hyundai and 54 points ahead of Audi Sport Comtoyou.

The TCR World Tour weekend at Hungaroring starts on Friday with practice, followed by qualifying and the first race on Saturday, with the second and final race held on Sunday.

All races will be broadcast LIVE via the TCR TV streaming platform.
