Lynk & Co Cyan Racing heads for a Spa weekend with TCR World Tour

2023-05-24

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing is heading for weekend at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps as round two of the inaugural TCR World Tour season is upon us.

The team heads to Belgium from a tough but ultimately successful season opener in Portugal where Santiago Urrutia and Thed Björk claimed a 1-2 victory in Race 2.

"It was fantastic to start the season with a win, but we need to be realistic as we still lack some pace compared to our competitors. Spa is a very special track and it's really nice racing here. We need to score points and get two clean races so that we can climb the in the championship, this is the main target for this weekend," said Santiago Urrutia.

2017 world champion Thed Björk was the top points scoring Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver from the Portimao opener and is keen to keep up the momentum for Spa.

"It was great to start the season with a solid points haul and that 1-2 finish with Santi really strengthens our motivation. Spa won't be easy, but we will as usual need to be smart to keep scoring those vital points. I raced and won at Spa even before Yann and Santi was born, I feel that's an advantage for me this weekend," said Thed Björk.

Team-mates Yann Ehrlacher and Ma Qing Hua had a promising but mixed season opener.

"Spa-Francorchamps is a legendary track that I'm looking forward to race on. We had a test here earlier this year, but it was snowing and raining. I had the pace during the season opener but unfortunately, we missed out on the top ten in qualifying. We all want to secure good points and the target for this weekend is to try and win a race," said Yann Ehrlacher.

"This is a highlight of the TCR World Tour calendar, a circuit which provides a lot of challenges. This is the first time that we race with the new Lynk & Co 03 TCR here, meaning a lot of unknowns. It's difficult to predict where we will be result-wise this weekend, but we will as always fight hard and aim for the front," said Ma Qing Hua.

The TCR World Tour weekend at Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps starts on Friday with practice, followed by qualifying, Race 1 on Saturday and Race 2 on Sunday.

All races will be broadcast LIVE via the TCR TV streaming platform.
