Lynk & Co Cyan Racing gears up for Italian heatwave at Vallelunga

2022-07-21

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing is gearing up for the FIA World Touring Car Cup race of Italy at Vallelunga this weekend where temperatures are expected to hit close to 40 degrees celsius.

"It's going to be very warm and it will be really important to find the right setup as we have maximum compensation weight for Vallelunga. The main goal will be to be in the top ten of qualifying and score the big points in the races. We will keep working as a team and I hope that we can keep our strong pace up," said Santiago Urrutia.

Reining champion Yann Ehrlacher is just as Santiago Urrutia placed right at the top of the standings, trailing his Lynk & Co 03 TCR colleague by just four points after the first half of the season.

"I'm looking forward to start the second part of the season, but it's going to be tough as we will be on maximum weight. It's still a long way left in the championship and a lot of things can happen. Our main focus is as always to score consistently and we've been quite successful on that so far this year," said Yann Ehrlacher.

Ma Qing Hua's first WTCR season with Lynk & Co Cyan Racing has so far been one of consistency, having finished outside the top six just once this year.

"I'm obviously aiming to keep the consistency up, but also to move forward in the results. I'm expecting a tough race weekend in terms of weight and high temperatures. But we are still in a positive position in the team standings and I hope we can make the most of the challenging conditions in Italy," said Ma Qing Hua.

Yvan Muller and Thed Björk are placed ninth and 14th overall after the first five race weekends of the 2022 season.

"The high temperatures this weekend has more impact on the tyres, brakes and the rest of the car than me. I have raced at Vallelunga before, but it's many years ago. We will continue to fight as hard as ever this weekend," said Yvan Muller.

"While I don't seem to be able to shake my bad luck with another technical issue during the previous race weekend, I had a good feeling for the car in Portugal which I hope to continue this weekend. As we enter the final half of the season, I expect the fights on track to become even tougher and I'm ready for it," said Thed Björk.

The Italian WTCR round starts on Friday with testing, followed by practice and qualifying on Saturday and two races on Sunday which are broadcast LIVE on: eurosportplayer.com
