Second WTCR half starts this weekend on new grounds in Czech Republic

2021-10-06

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing returns to action this weekend for the second FIA World Touring Car Cup half on a circuit the championship has not raced on before: Autodrom Most

Reigning champion Yann Ehrlacher heads the standings coming into the weekend, with Santiago Urrutia, who won the last race in Hungary, a close second.

"Most looks like a good track for us. We are leading both championships currently and that's the important thing. But it's really close and things can quickly change, so we continue our focus on scoring consistently. I'm really looking forward to hit the track again after the long break," said Yann Ehrlacher.

"It will be important to get up to speed quickly and find the right setup. It's really important now to score in every race as we start the final half of the season. We are in a good position and we need to keep working the same way we have done so far. I feel ready and strong," said Santiago Urrutia.

While the circuit is new to the majority of the WTCR field, it's familiar grounds for Thed Björk who has completed several race weekends there in the past.

"I really like Most and I've raced there many times in the past. While it's 12 years ago since I last raced there, I think I will get back into the groove quickly. I'm really looking forward to get going again with the positive trend that I've had for the past couple of races. Half of the season is still left and I'm chasing back up the order in the standings," said Thed Björk.

Quadruple world champion Yvan Muller is placed sixth overall despite a tough weekend in Hungary seven weeks ago and is aiming to claw back up through the order.

"I haven't raced at Most before, but I have no problem in getting used to new circuits quickly. I didn't get the results I wanted in Hungary and my target is as always set on the top this weekend," said Yvan Muller.

The WTCR Race of Czech Republic weekend starts on Friday with practice and qualifying, followed by two races on Sunday with no activities on Saturday. All races will be broadcast LIVE on Eurosport.
