Lynk & Co Cyan Racing is back on track with WTCR in Hungary

2021-08-18

The six-week FIA World Touring Car Cup summer break is over and Lynk & Co Cyan Racing will head back to work at the Hungaroring this weekend.

Yann Ehrlacher is placed second after a strong recovery following a trying season opener in Germany three months ago.

"I've got a good feeling ahead of Hungary, especially as I've come back from 16th position in the championship to second in two rounds," said Ehrlacher.

"I like the Hungaroring quite a lot and I've won there twice in the past. I think we can score well this weekend and the goal is to leave Hungary at the top of the standings. But as usual in the WTCR, it will not be easy by any means."

Quadruple world champion Yvan Muller is placed third overall, just seven points behind his team-mate.

"I cannot say I was happy with the results from the previous round in Spain, then we are going to fight hard this weekend to secure a strong result," said Yvan Muller.

Santiago Urrutia had an even worse weekend at MotorLand Aragón, retiring from the final race but is still placed fourth in the standings, seven points behind Yvan Muller.

"This will be a very important weekend because there are just four race weekends left after this one," said Santiago Urrutia.

"I didn't have a good weekend in Aragon where a mistake in qualifying cost me a lot of points. But I am still there in the championship with fourth position and it's very tight. My goal is the podium and we have to score consistently in all three races."

Thed Björk was the best scoring Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver during the previous round in Spain and is aiming to keep his momentum up and climb further up the order from ninth in the drivers' standings.

"My car was great in Spain and I have a fantastic feeling with me from that race weekend," said Thed Björk.

"My goal for Hungary is obviously to keep the momentum and capitalise on this in order to move forward in the standings."

The WTCR Race of Hungary weekend starts on Saturday with practice and qualifying, followed by two races on Sunday. All races will be broadcast LIVE on Eurosport.
