Heat is on Lynk & Co Cyan Racing for penultimate WTCR round

2020-10-28

The heat is on for Lynk & Co Cyan Racing as the team heads to the penultimate FIA World Touring Car Cup round of 2020 at MotorLand Aragón this weekend.

Yann Ehrlacher heads the standings by 22 points over Honda driver and title rival Esteban Guerrieri.

"Being in the championship lead does not put any more pressure on me. We have been consistent all year and we need to work hard to continue that in the last two races. The strategy for this race is the same as for the first, to push as hard as we can and score a lot of points," said Yann Ehrlacher.

Cyan Racing Lynk & Co, consisting of Yann Ehrlacher and Yvan Muller, heads the team championship on 283 points, 30 points more than Honda team Münnich Motorsport, ahead of the Spanish round.

"We had a good test at MotorLand Aragón earlier this year and that will be crucial as the circuit is new for almost everyone in the WTCR. We need to keep delivering on a high level and I am confident that we can do so this weekend as well," said Yvan Muller.

Santiago Urrutia will for the first time this season head to a circuit that is new not only for him, but for everyone in the team.

"I'm ready for Aragon and it will be my home race as I live in Barcelona. It will be an important weekend for us as we are nearing the end of the season. I want to move up in the championship as well, but the main goal is to help the team to maintain the overall points lead," said Santiago Urrutia.

Thed Björk meanwhile is looking for revenge after a tough weekend in Hungary two weeks ago.

"I'm keen to bounce back after two tough weekends with a lot of issues. I've tested several times at Aragon previously and my goal is simple for the weekend, to fight for the very top," said Thed Björk.

The WTCR Race of Spain weekend starts on Saturday with practice and qualifying, followed by three races on Sunday. All races will be broadcast live on Eurosport, read more.
