Lynk & Co Cyan Racing reveals first WTCR driver duo

2020-03-26

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing has revealed its first two drivers in preparation for the postponed start of the 2020 FIA World Touring Car Cup season.

Quadruple World Champion Yvan Muller will team up with upcoming talent Yann Ehrlacher in team Cyan Racing Lynk & Co.

"While we are in uncertain times with the coronavirus pandemic, what is certain is that we have one of the best driver duos in the world of touring car racing with Yvan and Yann," said Christian Dahl, CEO and founder of Cyan Racing.

"We are monitoring the current situation closely and taking all precautions to ensure the safety of everyone in the project. We do of course fully support all organisations involved in postponing the season start. We will use this period of no racing to continue to prepare ourselves for when the conditions are there to race again.

”Yvan and Yann contributed strongly to the progress and results of last year. We look forward to take on the even tougher challenge of the 2020 WTCR season together with them."

Yvan Muller and Yann Ehrlacher raced Lynk & Co 03 TCR race cars in the WTCR for Cyan Racing last year, but in different team setups.

Yvan Muller claimed third overall after fighting for the World Title until the last race of the season.

"Lynk & Co Cyan Racing is the right place to be. Everyone in the project, from Sweden to China, are motivated to push on for the ultimate goal of fighting for the World Title again in 2020," said Yvan Muller.

"Last year was a great testament to the efforts of everyone involved, going from the first development tests to winning races in less than 12 months. There is no doubt we need to push even harder this year, and I am ready."

The 23-year-old Yann Ehrlacher made a strong debut for the team last year, claiming six podiums to finish eighth overall.

"I am really motivated to continue my commitment with Lynk & Co Cyan Racing, and especially to do it together with Yvan Muller," said Yann Ehrlacher.

"We had some really promising results last year that I look forward to further develop for 2020. I want to win races this year and of course to fight for the World Title together with the team."

The driver duo for Cyan Performance Lynk & Co team will be unveiled shortly.

The 2020 FIA WTCR season is set to start on June 6-7 at the Slovakiaring, this following the cancellation of the Nürburgring event on May 20-23 due to the coronavirus pandemic, more information is available here.
