Flash report: Yvan Muller and Thed Björk heads Lynk & Co Cyan Racing 1-2

2019-11-17

Yvan Muller and Thed Björk secured two victories and four podiums in two races for Lynk & Co Cyan Racing, crossing the finishing line of the second Macau race with a 1-2.

"It got a fantastic start. I knew if I should get the opportunity to win, I needed to pass the Honda and the Alfa at the start. We had a clear strategy ahead of the race and it worked. A big thanks to Thed and Yann, because that victory could have been theirs. I am back in the title fight, but everything can still happen. Let's wait and see what the third race will provide," said Yvan Muller.

Yann Ehrlacher started from pole position, but it was Yvan Muller who made the best start from fifth on the grid to third place into the Lisboa corner.

Thed Björk slotted in behind the French driver who made his way past both team-mates to claim the lead before the end of the first lap.

23-year-old Yann Ehrlacher finished sixth ahead of team-mate and triple World Champion Andy Priaulx in seventh position.

The result has enabled Yvan Muller to further close in on the championship lead, now 17 points from Hyundai driver Norbert Michelisz.

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing has extended its team championship lead to 57 points over Hyundai.

The third and final WTCR race of the Macau weekend starts at 11:00 local time/04:00 CET.
