Flash report: Yann Ehrlacher on the limit to claim third in Vila Real qualifying

2019-07-06

Yann Ehrlacher was on the limit of the edge to claim third position in the first FIA World Touring Car Cup qualifying session at the street circuit of Vila Real in Portugal.

"The team gave me a really good car that I was confident in, I was able to push like hell. I scratched the wall at some places but without any impact to really use every inch of the track. I am really pleased with the work that we have done so far this weekend and I am looking forward to a tough race," said Yann Ehrlacher who was four tenths of a second from pole position.

Thed Björk, who claimed pole position here last year, was ninth fastest with Lynk & Co Cyan Racing team-mate Yvan Muller in 13th position.

Andy Priaulx, who had not turned a single lap of Vila Real before the first practice session yesterday, was 16th fastest.

The first race of the Portuguese WTCR weekend starts at 15:15 local time/16:15 CEST.
