Flash report: Yann Ehrlacher and Thed Björk moves into the top five

2019-07-06

Yann Ehrlacher and Thed Björk moved into the top five of the second practice session of the FIA World Touring Car Cup weekend at the challenging Vila Real street circuit in Portugal.

The French driver posted the third fastest time of the session, four tenths of a second from the fastest time, with Lynk & Co Cyan Racing colleague Thed Björk just five hundredths of a second behind in fourth position.

Andy Priaulx claimed the 20th fastest time, continuing his hard work to learn the fearsome circuit as he never before has raced here.

The technical issues of yesterday for Yvan Muller continued in this session unfortunately, with further valuable time lost as he was forced to pit toward the end of the session with a puncture and a damaged front-right suspension following contact with the barriers.

“I hit the barrier on Turn 17, it’s a high-speed corner. I was probably a bit too optimistic, I look up and I was in the barrier. I have to see on the data exactly what has happened but for sure it was my fault. The front wheel is broken," said Muller.

The session was halted once due to a collision between two Cupra drivers.

Next up is the first qualifying session, starting at 11:00 local time/12:00 CEST.
