Flash report: Yvan Muller fights to fourth in first Vila Real practice

2019-07-05

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver Yvan Muller fought his way to fourth fastest despite missing vital time due to a technical issue in the first free practice session of the FIA World Touring Car Cup weekend at Vila Real.

The team worked to solve the issue during the session on the fast and difficult Portuguese street circuit. The four-time World Champion set a lap time of 2:02.646 on his last attempt as the repairs were completed, 0.526 seconds from the fastest time.

Yann Ehrlacher was eleventh fastest with Andy Priaulx 16th and Thed Björk 20th. The Swede stated after the session that he was happy with the feeling in the car but failed to get a clean lap due to the traffic on the twisty street circuit.

The session was stopped twice for repositioning of a tyre stack at one of the chicanes as cars had hit it, moving it out of position.

Next up for the Lynk & Co Cyan Racing drivers is the second free practice session starting at 09:00 local time/10:00 CEST tomorrow.
