​Thed Björk crowns WTCR weekend in the Netherlands with second victory

The 2017 World Champion has climbed back up to second position in the championship thanks to his two victories, just 11 points from Honda driver Esteban Guerrieri.

"The emotions to take two wins after the difficult races in Slovakia just a week ago are indescribable. The car was fantastic at Zandvoort and a big thanks to the team. I had a really good start in the final race and it was tight with Yann, but we all want to win and to claim a podium together with him is fantastic," said Thed Björk.

Yann Ehrlacher claimed his so far best finish of the season with second position in the final race after starting from pole position. Thed Björk took the lead into the first corner after a slightly better start and Yann Ehrlacher crossed the finishing line just 0.830 seconds behind.

"I started from pole but finished second, something I am not happy with personally as my goal of course always is to win. But I am happy for the team, we claimed another 1-2 and proved that we are in the top despite the changes that have been made during the weekend. I got good points to the championship and I hope we can continue this in the next race," said Yann Ehrlacher.

Yvan Muller crossed the finishing line in fifth position in the final race after a weekend of ups and downs. The four-time World Champion was in the very top of all qualifying sessions and secured a strong 1-2 finish with Thed Björk in the first race, finishing in second position.

"I am really disappointed personally as we lost valuable points due to reasons that should not be. But the team scored important points with two victories and four podiums and that is what we will bring with us for the next race," said Yvan Muller.

Andy Priaulx also had a mixed weekend, finishing 16th in the final race but qualified a season-best third for the first race in which he crossed the finishing line in fifth position.

"It was a tough weekend but I am happy that we got some points out of it. I had a really strong qualifying yesterday but was unlucky today with the decision to make a suspension change during the second qualifying that definitely cost me a strong place and a lot of points. But overall I am really happy with my race pace, getting faster and faster for every race. I am happy for the team and proud to be part of that," said Andy Priaulx.

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing claimed two victories, four podium finishes and closed in on the lead of both the drivers' championship and the teams' championship after the WTCR weekend in the Netherlands.

Thed Björk is placed second, 11 points from the lead, Yvan Muller is sixth, Yann Ehrlacher is eighth and Andy Priaulx 18th. Team Cyan Racing Lynk & Co (Björk/Muller) is placed second, 38 points from the lead, and Cyan Performance Lynk & Co (Ehrlacher/Priaulx) is up three places to sixth.

The 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup season continues on June 20-22nd at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.
