Flash report: Struggling for pace in qualifying at the fast Slovakiaring

2019-05-10

The Lynk & Co Cyan Racing drivers were far down the order of the first FIA World Touring Car Cup qualifying session at the fast Slovakiaring, running with the heaviest cars in the field and with reduced power.

Yvan Muller claimed 17th position on the grid, 1.446 seconds from the pole position time. Team-mate Thed Björk was 25th fastest, Yann Ehrlacher 26th and Andy Priaulx 27th.

"We are far from the top at the Slovakiaring and a big part of that is the weight and power. Those factors are hurting us quite a lot on a fast circuit like this. We will continue to fight though and if the rain comes as predicted on Sunday for the races, everything can change," said Thed Björk.

The balance of performance (BoP) and compensation weight has the Lynk & Co 03 TCR heaviest of all cars in the WTCR field and running on 97,5% power.

Next up today is the second qualifying session, starting at 16:40 CEST.
