Flash report: Yvan Muller climbs nine places in chaotic second Hungaroring race

2019-04-28

Yvan Muller performed a strong drive from 15th position on the grid to finish sixth in a chaotic second FIA World Touring Car Cup race at the Hungaroring.

A semi-wet circuit ensured plenty of action throughout the entire 12-lap race that unfortunately meant retirements for three of the four Lynk & Co Cyan Racing drivers Yann Ehrlacher, Andy Priaulx and Thed Björk.

2017 World Champion Thed Björk made a strong start from fourth to second place into the first corner but was hit on the opening lap and had to pit for suspension repairs.

Andy Priaulx pitted on the same lap for repairs, suffering a similar fate on the opening lap.

Yann Ehrlacher started eighth and fought his way up into the top five, only to get brutally hit by Hyundai driver Gabriele Tarquini and had to pit with right-side damage and a puncture.

The Lynk & Co Cyan Racing team is working flat out to repair the cars ahead of the final WTCR race of the weekend in Hungary, starting at 17:00 CEST.
