The Scandinavian Touring Car Championship (STCC) continues this weekend at former Formula 1 circuit Anderstorp. Polestar Cyan Racing drivers Robert Dahlgren and Richard Göransson are separated by just seven points in the championship lead ahead of the race.
”The fight with your team mate is always the toughest. But I have a good cooperation with Richard and our main goal is to secure the titles together, we have tough competitors that are closing in as well. I am very much pleased with the season start so far and my goal is no doubt to continue the flow this weekend,” said Robert Dahlgren.
While Dahlgren got the perfect season start in Skövde, team mate Göransson got back in the previous twilight race at Mantorp, reducing the gap in the points.
”I have a great feeling ahead of Anderstorp after claiming two victories so far and this is a circuit that I like with proper overtaking opportunities. While our main goal is to win the championship as a team, the fight with Robert will of course be hard and I expect the other teams to be even closer as the season progresses,” said Richard Göransson.
Prince Carl Philip landed two points finishes last year at Anderstorp and is keen to continue scoring points after missing the first race weekend of 2016.
”Anderstorp is a unique circuit that I always look forward to. The previous race at Mantorp was okay result wise, but I am hoping to improve this weekend,” said Prince Carl Philip.
While Polestar Cyan Racing has claimed four out of four wins this year, the other teams have moved closer and the fight is expected to be even tougher this weekend.
”Statistically we have always had somewhat of an upper hand in the beginning of the season, then it gets tougher as the season progresses. It is vital that we continue pushing and that we do not remain in a comfort zone, we are no doubt in for an interesting race weekend at Anderstorp,” said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Motorsport at Polestar.
The STCC weekend at Anderstorp starts on Saturday with testing and qualifying, while the two races, which are broadcasted live on svtplay.se, will be held on Sunday.
