Richard Göransson breaks lap record in first STCC test

2016-04-12

Newly signed Polestar Cyan Racing driver Richard Göransson recorded the fastest ever STCC lap time at Knutstorp during the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship test today.

The four-time STCC champion recorded a lap time of 57.415, close to one tenth of a second faster than his own qualifying lap record from 2013.

”A perfect start to the season! While you can't draw too many conclusions from a pre-season test, the feeling is great, the car is fast and I'm feeling right at home with the team,” said Göransson.

Team mate Robert Dahlgren, who makes his STCC return this year after two seasons away from the championship, was close behind with a best time of 57.692.

”We have had a productive first test day where we have been able to run through the things we wanted. The car was fast straight out of the box and I feel confident for the coming challenges,” said Dahlgren.

The team will continue the test tomorrow at Knutstorp with the season starting in two weeks at the Skövde Airport Race on May 1st.

Göransson and Dahlgren will be joined by Prince Carl Philip in Polestar Cyan Racing’s third Volvo S60 during the 2016 STCC season, while he missed the test at Knutstorp due to other commitments.
