Legendary Bathurst next up for Lynk & Co Cyan Racing in penultimate TCR World Tour round

2023-11-08

The legendary Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, Australia, is next up for the Lynk & Co Cyan Racing squad in the penultimate KUMHO TCR World Tour round of 2023 this weekend - November 10-12.

The Mount Panorama Circuit offers 6,213 kilometres of savage corners such as "The Dipper", blind crests, close to 200 metres in elevation changes, Kangaroos and long straights - considered to be one of the best and most challenging circuits in the world.

Double world champion Yann Ehrlacher heads there in third place of the drivers' championship, 21 points from the lead.

"I am really grateful to be able to race on this amazing track, one of my first racing memories as a kid is watching races from Bathurst on the TV. I think the Lynk & Co 03 TCR should be really strong at the top of the mountain while we will have a tough time in the first part of the circuit due to the BoP. We had a difficult Sydney weekend, but we are still in a good place in the championship and our expectations are to keep pushing for the top this weekend," said Yann Ehrlacher.

Ma Qing Hua scored a podium in the previous round at Sydney Motorsport Park and has made his way up to seventh position overall, now heading to one of his all-time favourites.

"After a first tour of the Bathurst circuit, it really is mind-blowing and leaves no room for error. I like the challenge of learning a new circuit, especially one like this. I feel confident after the race weekend in Sydney, although we could have scored better. But the goal is to score good points at Bathurst so that we have a strong position ahead of the Macau finale," said Ma Qing Hua.

Thed Björk trails his Chinese team-mate by a single point after a mixed Sydney Motorsport Park weekend and is keen to fight back, as is Santiago Urrutia who holds ninth place overall.

"Sydney obviously didn't turn out as we hoped for, and we have to work hard to bounce back from this. But we know that the pace is there, and I have a good feeling ahead of Bathurst. Just as everyone has said, the amazing Mount Panorama Circuit further adds motivation ahead of this weekend where we need to come out with a solid points haul," said Thed Björk.

"Bathurst is going to be a difficult track to learn but I've done a lot of laps in the simulator, it looks amazing. We really need to have a good weekend at Bathurst after the roller coaster weekend we had in Sydney. But it's a bit of an unknown on how this circuit will suit our car and we need to be on our toes," said Santiago Urrutia.

All races will be broadcast LIVE via the TCR TV streaming platform.
